Tagged great white shark pings in off the Maldives

One of the satellite-tagged Great White Sharks, nicknamed Kathryn, who was originally tagged in False Bay on the 16th of April 2012, has just pinged in at a region called the Chagos Archipelago (near the Maldives), to the south-west of India. Kathryn is a mature, female Great White Shark of about 4.5 metres (15 ft) in length, and weighing in at around 1102 kilograms (2430 lbs). It has been a while since Kathryn has been seen in the False Bay area, but we are hoping to have her join us on one of our shark cage diving trips this season. [...]

Tagged Great White Shark Killed Off Mozambique

A Great White Shark named Brenda Fassie, who was tagged in Mossel Bay around 7 months ago, made its way along the coast up to Mozambique where she was caught in a gill net and died. The online Ocearch Global Shark Tracker showed that Brenda's satellite tag had been transmitting signals from a village in southern Mozambique for a period of nearly two weeks. At the end of last month, based on dots showing where signal was transmitted from, Brenda swam around the Mozambique Channel.
